German automaker, Audi is currently developing 2nd generation 2016 Audi Q5 compact SUV. With a lot of existing and upcoming completion from other SUV manufacturers, Audi has announced myriad substantial upgrades to feature in this new Q5. The 2016 Audi Q5 will boast of a more attractive design which includes a new architecture as well as a plug-in hybrid model under its hood. As first in its line of changes is the production plant transition. From Ingolstadt, Germany, production of the 2016 Audi Q5 will be relocated to San Jose Chiapa in Mexico.

2016 Audi Q5 decision to move its production to Mexico has faced with some opposing thoughts in the auto world, though they argue that it is for economic reasons. It is in the hope that the Germans will tighten their quality standards for which this particular car brand is renowned. The new model / new generation Q5 will be built on a new platform. It will feature Volkswagen’s lightweight MLB-evo architecture for its undercarriage, resulting in a cut of 200 pounds in weight. Exterior changes are multiple too. The basic body shape will remain the same. The front grill will change; the vertical bars will be changed too and tuned horizontally. The overall shape of the grill remains unchanged. Headlights will be much narrower than its predecessor, featuring Audi’s new MatrixBeam LED lights.

The interior design matches with that of the Audi TT, a flagship design for future Audi vehicles. A majority of controls are conveniently placed on the TFT display, which complements the Minimalistic Design’ which does away with a big chunk of unnecessary buttons. This also enhances the interior aesthetics of the new Q5.

Lovers of speed are well catered for in the design of the 2016 Audi. It comes with a choice of front and all-wheel drive. Under the hood as well comes with a variety of engines. Engine options include a 2.0 litre TFSI engine giving 245 horsepower and 273 foot-pounds of torque. A second option comes with a 2.0 litre TDI that exudes 190 horsepower and 295 foot-pounds of torque. A third engine features a 3.0 litre V6 Turbo Diesel (TDI) with a good 272 horsepower and a massive 443 lb-ft of torque, For petrol-heads, there is yet a fourth engine featuring a triple-turbo 3.0 litre V6 TDI that delivers a cool 354 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Special versions of the 2016 Audi Q5 will include two sport SUVs and a Hybrid variant. The SQ5 will deliver 340 hp while the Q5 RS version having around 450 hp. The 2016 Q5 e-tron Quattro Hybrid will combine power from a 2.0 litre four cylinder (252 hp; 273 lb-ft torque) and an electric motor (109 hp; 221 lb-ft torque). There are a number including: Nissan Murano, Cadillac SRX, BMW X3, Lexus RX 350 and the Acura RDX counting as the main competitors.

The price will be on an upward trend from its predecessor. The 2016 Audi will retail at approximately $40,000, with hybrids starting at around $53,000. The SQ5 and the Q5 RS will start at around $55,ooo. Its release maybe in early 2016 while sales are expected to begin during the second half of 2016.
