2016 Audi Q7 Release Date, New

2016 model year will be a big year for German car producer Audi. This worldwide popular brand brings numerous redesigned models, and 2016 Audi Q7 is one of those models. This full-size SUV already debuted in its full glory, and we had a chance to see its best edition so far. Audi started the production of the Q7 back in 2005, and 2016 model is representative of its second generation. New generation will bring several upgrades, and here are the most important facts and specs:

When we look at the pictures of the latest 2016 Audi Q7, its exterior is familiar. The changes made on its exterior and modest, but we got used to that throughout the years. Reshaped front end with couple of standard alterations is what makes the biggest difference between current and upcoming Q7. But let’s start at the beginning – the platform. 2016 Audi Q7 will be built on a new MLB Evo platform. This change caused around 700 pounds weight reduction, thanks to light weighted materials and extensive usage of it. According to Audi’s officials, new Q7 is the lightest in its class with 4,398 pounds of body weight. Even though Q7 SUV is now both shorter and narrower, it offers more interior space thanks to innovative design solutions. Its exterior design changes include new front grill design, as well as new shape of headlights and taillights, and some design details which are not so obvious but do make significant impact on overall look.

Interior changes, beside extra space, include new dash design. New dash is simple, clean and modern, and packed with latest tech features which will be appreciated by Audi’s fans.  The HD screen is placed on top of the dash, while on the rear, Audi installed 10.1-inch tablets.

Depending on markets, 2016 Audi Q7 will come with different engine choices. Starting with European specs, we can expect two V6 engines, one gasoline and one diesel. Diesel unit will be a 3.0-liter TDI turbodiesel with 272 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. of torque. It will be paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission and Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive. With this diesel unit, Q7 will return 41 mpg in combined ride. Gasoline engine is a 3.0-liter TFSI which is capable to deliver 333 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque, and it returns 30 mpg in combined ride. USA spec model will come with 2.0-liter four-cylinder TFSI engine as standard. It will be able to deliver 252 hp and 272 lb-ft. of torque. Second engine option fo US market could be the diesel unit, with same specs as European version. Audi will also include 3.0-liter TDI with 218 horsepower and 368 lb-ft. of torque and 2016 Audi Q7 plug-in hybrid diesel version with combined output of 373 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque into the offer, but not immediately. This diesel-electric plug-in hybrid will be able to return 138 mpg in combined ride and will have 34 mpg electric-only range.

2016 Audi Q7 Price and Release Date

The 2016 Audi Q7 will arrive in dealer showrooms sometime during this spring. However, we already had a chance to see this new model at 2015 Detroit Auto Show, where it had its world premiere. Price of the model is still unavailable, and we will update you about as soon as it becomes available, but do not expect it to start before $55,000.
