2016 Audi RS5 Performance, Release

Whether on their official website, or their brochures and catalogues, the mere fact that the Audi RS model range is listed as one and not part of the rest of the model range tells us that carrying an RS badge is no game. The Audi RS5 is a seriously sporty car, and it is also placed in the most competitive classes, being put up against the BMW M4 and the Mercedes-Benz AMG C63. With such rivalry, the 2016 Audi RS5 has a lot on its plate, but from judging from the little information that has been revealed, it is safe to say that it will hold its own.

2016 Audi RS5 Exterior and Interior

Like the current model offering, the 2016 Audi RS5 will be available as both a Coupe’ and a Convertible. It will retain the same basic body shape as the current RS5, with the addition of some aggressive looking features. Being an RS model, the honeycomb mesh on the front grille and air intake vents will remain an integral part of the design. The headlights will have new designs, as well as LED daytime running lights, and the taillights will also receive the same treatment. The gloss black diffuser combined with honeycomb segments will accentuate the two large oval exhaust pipes, with the retractable spoiler finishing off the rear end in an extremely sporty manner. The car will also bear many RS logos.

On the inside, the most eye-catching features will definitely be the ultra sporty RS bucket seats and the flat-bottomed multifunction RS steering wheel. The large LED display will ensure that you get the most out of the entertainment system, as well as provide an abundance of driving information and a platform to view and change driving settings. The RS instrument cluster also ensures that no matter how long your journey, you won’t forget that you are driving an Audi RS5.

2016 Audi RS5 Engine

Although no official information regarding the engine specifications or performance data has been released, it is rumored that the 2016 RS 5 will no longer house the 4.2 FSI Quattro V8 engine. Instead, it is likely to be fitted with an all new 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 and have its power delivered via either a 6-speed manual, or a 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox. There are no performance statistics to go on, but since the RS 5 will compete with the mighty BMW M4, it will certainly not produce less than 425 hp (317 kW) and we can surely expect it to generate more power than the current model’s 444 hp (331 kW.)

2016 Audi RS5 Release Date and Price

No official release information has been provided, but we can expect the car to arrive in the third quarter of 2016. With the 2016 Audi RS5 being one of the best selling RS models, it is unlikely to see a huge price hike, so we could possibly expect the 2016 Audi RS5 Coupe’ to start at around $72 000 and the RS5 Convertible should be an extra $10 000 on top of that.
