The second generation of 2016 Chevrolet Volt promises to be an upgrade of its predecessor, with more refined features, and is set to be unveiled in January 2016, at a starting price of $33,995.

This model should retain its predecessor’s hatchback design, with flowing lines and a much bolder look than other hybrids in its class. LED headlights and taillights have been added for great visibility, and not only do they look good, but they also improve the car’s aerodynamic performance. Moreover, Chevrolet Volt has given this Volt an interesting design, much like a reversed mohawk, which is ingenious. It’s attractive and the shape let’s air flow from the front to the back seamlessly, which enables it to overcome aerodynamic drag.

The car’s interior offers comfort with heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Other than that, it also has a number of high tech features including an 8-inch diagonal color instrumental panel which has four themes, which provide the driver with a unique and personalized driving experience. An additional center display screen of the same size and shape has pinch and zoom capability, Chevy’s MyLink system, Apple’s CarPlay and the MirrorLink system which display’s your phone’s screen on the display. You will also be able to connect 7 devices to the internet with the 4G LTE WiFi.

There are a couple of advanced safety features that most users will appreciate, other than the 10 airbags. One of them is the Lane Keep Assist which warns you when you steer into the wrong lane, and automatically shifts you back to the right one if you don’t respond. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert monitors the cars behind you when you want to back out of a parking spot, and the Forward Collision Alert uses cameras to alert you if there is a pedestrian in your way. This Volt also has a front pedestrian braking system which automatically brakes to avoid collisions. 2016 Chevrolet Volt also offers a response system in case of an accident, where advisers are notified in case of a car crash, and they can track your car using GPS technology, shut off the fuel pump and unlock the doors automatically.

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt engine is more efficient than the current model’s, with a 1.5l 4-cylinder direct injection engine that runs on gas at 101 horsepower. It also has two electric motors that share the workload almost evenly, and when combined, the power output stands at 149 horsepower and 294 lb-ft. The fuel economy is also improved and it’s at 41mpg on gas and 102MPGe on electricity. Other than that, the car is faster and accelerates to 60mph in 8.4 seconds.
