2016 Ford Focus Electric Engine, Changes

With the current discussions about the environment, oil usage (and price) and CO2 emissions, these electric cars have become a great idea. That is why each year the competition between these models grows bigger and bigger. For 2016, one more time Ford releases its 2016 Ford Focus Electric, as in the last few years.

2016 Ford Focus Electric Exterior and Interior

The exterior design of this new Ford Focus is very close to the 2015 model, featuring unique 17-inch, 15-spoke painted aluminum wheels, a rear view camera and a rear spoiler. In addition, it presents a full range of exterior LED lighting with a HID automatic headlamp with LED signature lighting and cornering functionality, LED taillamp accents and LED illuminate external charge port ring. As an option, customers can opt for an exterior protection package as well.

Regarding the interior, the car comes with a Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control, which brings high standards of comfort for both front seats, as well as an air filtration system. The SYNC®3 – Enhanced Voice Recognition Communications and Entertainment System is an improvement on the old MyFord Touch system, with clean graphics, more efficient voice controls and better response to the touch screen feature. As part of the green car theme, seat fabric is made with REPREVE® fiber, which means it is 100% from recycled materials. In the same way, the material of the seat cushions comes from soy-based bio-foam from plant seed oils.

The only package offered is the 107kW electric motor, which equals approximately 143 horsepower, and a 1-speed automatic transmission. This model is expected to go from 0 to 60 mph in 10.1 seconds, not bad for an electric vehicle. In this matter, one of the expected upgrades of the 2016 model is an improvement on the responsive electric acceleration. Considering it is a complete electric car, it means it does not need fuel at all. This translates into no oil changes whatsoever, and, of course, the aim of all this green revolution: no CO2 emissions. It comes with two charging options, the conventional 120-volt/30-amp charge cord, and a 240-volt/30-amp home charging station. In this sense, the charge range is close to 76 miles, with a rate of 110 mpg of city fuel economy and 99 mpg on a highway. In order to make the most out of the car’s charge, this model has an EcoRouters pathfinder system, which finds the best ways to save on electrical charge by avoiding traffic.
