2016 Kia Sedona Released, MPG

Kia Sedona was previously known for its value and style. However, last year the automaker redesigned the minivan to a multipurpose vehicle as opposed to a traditional minivan. The new 2016 Kia Sedona comes in five trim levels which are the L, LX, EX, SX and SXL.

2016 Kia Sedona Exterior and Interior

Kia designed the Sedona to look more like an SUV and less like a minivan as evidenced by its less sloping hood line, side panels with minimal creases and its beltline which starts from the headlights and stretches all the way to the taillights at the back. The new exterior has received only a slight refreshing since it had undergone through a more extensive redesign earlier. The front fascia of the 2016 Kia Sedona features the automaker’s signature “tiger nose” grille flanked by LED headlights on both sides. It also features large air intakes and a redesigned front bumper. The rear has a redesigned spoiler, a power lift gate, a modified bumper and is also equipped with LED taillights. Generally, the new look is more aerodynamic to enhance its handling. Though it has some features of a SUV, the 2016 Kia Sedona is easily recognizable as a minivan as opposed to a SUV. Other exterior features include redesigned acoustic-glass fog lights and 17-inch alloy wheels for the base trim and 18 and 19-inch wheels for higher trim models.

The cabin of the 2016 Kia Sedona is made with quality materials. The cabin can accommodate 8 passengers in its 3-row seating arrangement. However, higher trim levels forgo the standard 3- row middle bench for captain’s chairs and thus accommodate 7 passengers. The middle row seats fold up and slide forward to stack against the front row while the 3rd row seats fold below the floor level which increases cargo space substantially. At the front, the vehicle features a contemporary and stylish cabin that features horizontally laid-out controls. Other standard features include a 4.3-inch touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and auxiliary inputs, AM/FM/CD and satellite radio and a rear-view camera. The seats are covered with tricot fabric with built-in stain-resistance. The L trim also features 12cup holders and for safety enhanced airbags, hill start assist control, traction and stability control. Higher trims come with more features and equipment to choose from at an extra cost.

Just as it has been the norm of the Sedona, the 2016 model will also be equipped with a single power-train. The unit is a 3.3 L, V6 engine with direct fuel injection. This is the same engine featured on the Kia Cadenza sedan and in the Sorento SUV. The engine produces 276 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 248 lb-ft of torque @ 5,200 rpm. It has EPA fuel economy ratings of 18 mpg city and 24 mpg on highway for the L, LX and EX trims, 18/ 25 mpg city/highway for the SX and 17/22 mpg city/highway for the SXL trim level.
