2017 Ford Explorer Released, MPG

To achieve greater fuel economy, the 2017 Ford Explorer’s chassis will be an assembly of lighter materials in order to reduce its total curb weight by 700 pounds. It will also have enhanced wheel spreads to further increase its fuel economy. There will be a range of optional features for each model of this Ford Explorer such as inflatable seatbelts, front-view camera, trailer tow package, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, forward collision warning systems, and lane departure system.

The 2017 Ford Explorer will be available in 5 different trim options which are; Base, Sport, XLT, Platinum and Limited. Its body dimensions will be revised to be 5,010 mm long, 2000 mm wide and a height of 1,790 mm. The ground clearance of this new crossover SUV will be about 7.8 inches. A lot of changes and additions are expected to be made to its exterior the major ones being; a hexagonal grille upgrade, LED accent headlights and a smoother hood. Its tail end will have LED taillights, redesigned bumper and pillars, new exhaust pipe design, plus a hands-free power lift-gate. The 5-door SUV will also come with 18” aluminum-alloy wheels for the standard models while the higher models will have 20” aluminum-alloy wheels. It will have a dual-panel moonroof, exterior heated mirrors, body-color door handles, and rain sensing wipers.

The interior of the 2017 Ford Explorer features 3 seat rows that can accommodate up to seven passengers, a 6-way power driver seat, leather upholstery on seats and steering wheel, wood and aluminum interior trims, a configurable gauge cluster, 4.2” touchscreen display, premium audio system, USB and auxiliary audio inputs, Bluetooth connectivity, Sync functionality, climate controls and a rear privacy glass. Several additions that have been made to this 2017 Ford Explorer model include; a tilt steering wheel, rear parking sensors, 50/50 split folding third row seats, massage function on the front seats, keyless ignition system and advanced adaptive cruise control. The higher trims will have an 8-way power driver’s seat, and cloud-based features such as Microsoft Azure.

The 2017 Ford Explorer will be available in 3 different drive-train options. The standard engine options will the 3.5 liter V-6 turbocharged engine capable of producing up to 290 hp and torque of up to 255 lb-ft. Other engine options will include a 3.5 L/365 Hp/ 350 lb-ft Eco-support V-6 engine and the 2.5 L/270Hp/ 300lb-ft Eco-boost V-6 engine. All these will be paired to a 6-speed Select-shift automatic transmission system and an All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system for the Platinum and Sport models. 2017 Ford Explorer the Sport model will have a sport tuned suspension for better performance. The engines’ EPA rating on fuel efficiency for this Ford model is around 22 mpg on all drives.

2017 Ford Explorer Release Date and Price

The 2017 Ford Explorer is a comfort and luxury high-end crossover SUV that can be used both as a family car and as a sports utility vehicle. It will be priced at $30,000 for its base model which is very reasonable considering all the major redesigns and additions that have been made to it. 2017 Ford Explorer the official date that it will hit show rooms is not exactly known to the public, but it is expected to be released around spring of 2016.
