The 2018 BMW Z5 will be the first model developed under the Bavarians cooperation with Japanese auto maker, Toyota. It can be considered as a successor of Z4 and BMW main aim is to reinvent the sports roadster segment. This they intend to do with a unique and an avant-garde design combined with roadster proportions. It’s weight is intended to be less in order to support high-speed engines. BMW will utilize the structure of 2017 BMW Z5 for 2018 BMW Z5 model.

The new roadster will have a short rear overhang, long bonnet and a very low driving position which is practically situated on the rear axle. It will have a futuristic and classic design with some hints from Vision Connected Drive and the BMW 328 Hommage. It will be offered in two body styles; a roadster with a canvas roof and coupe. The BMW Z5 architecture follows the 2018 BMW Z5 philosophy of light weight construction using aluminum, ultra high strength steel, carbon fiber, magnesium and thermal plastic. The interior will offer spacious driving cabin and a great layout for the driver and the passengers. It comes with Power steering, interior climate control coupled with automatic weather updates, satellite radio, adjustable leather upholstered seats and 2 speedometers.

2018 BMW Z5 it has rear wheel drive which is standard with an optional four wheel drive paired with four and six cylinder engines. Both the Coupe and the Roadster will come equipped with 2018 BMW Z5 drivetrains apart from the hybrid version. The top model is expected to carry M Performance badge which could be a hybrid with a four-cylinder engine with water injection and an output of close to 600 horse power. It will have an eight speed transmission system with an electric clutch or a six speed manual option. For fuel economy, the expected mileage for 2018 BMW Z5 is 17 miles per gallon in city and 20 miles per gallon on the highway.

It will have a base price tag of around $49,000 and above.
